We are looking for an experienced front office professional with a strong market analytics and ideally project experience to work in the Derivatives and Market Intelligence (DMI) team within the Funding and Investor Relations (FIR) division. The selected candidate will prepare and execute financial market transactions (including -but not limited to- interest rate derivatives) and perform related tasks (e.g., collateral- and counterparty management). The selected candidate will contribute to project work to ensure that the ESM continues to access markets with state-of-the-art systems and contractual arrangements (e.g., central clearing of interest rate derivatives).


FIR division is responsible for planning, raising and structuring the needed funding amounts and manages the group of banks (Market Group) with which the ESM works. It also supports Investor Relations in managing the relationship with investors, analysing investors’ behaviour, and providing research and market analysis for marketing purposes. The selected candidate will report to the Head of Funding and Investor Relations.


The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) is the permanent crisis resolution mechanism for euro area countries. It provides financial assistance to Members facing financing difficulties. European leaders have agreed to an expanded mandate for the ESM, which it will implement in the years ahead. The ESM will have a stronger role in the analysis of financial stability risks and design of policy measures in programmes, jointly with the European Commission; it will provide the Single Resolution Board with a financial backstop to support effective and orderly resolution of banks. In the context of the current Covid-19 crisis, the ESM has established a precautionary credit line as one important element in the joint European response to the pandemic.


The ESM is a unique place to work with around 210 individuals from around the world committed to making a difference to the future of the euro area. It recruits talented professionals of any nationality from both the private and public sector.



  • Prepare and execute financial market transactions (e.g., interest rate, cross currency and foreign exchange swaps, bond issuance, repo etc.),

  • Coordinate, steer and participate in projects and new product implementation (e.g., central clearing),

  • Provide in-depth market intelligence for fixed income markets and related segments (e.g. money- ,repo-, derivatives markets) and contribute to further enhance the team’s market intelligence capabilities,

  • Develop the team’s market analysis tools and capabilities (e.g., spreadsheets, database, pricing sheets),

  • Provide research to be used for presentations and marketing activities.



  • At least four years of relevant experience, ideally in the private banking sector:

      1. as a trader/front office staff in a related position (derivatives/fixed income markets) and/or

      2. as a middle office/project office expert within the desired market segments.

Relevant experiences in both mentioned areas/fields would be a strong asset for the advertised position.


  • University degree in business, economics, finance, or similar fields

  • Deep understanding of capital- and related market segments and its products

  • Presentation and project management skills are considered an asset

  • Proficiency in Bloomberg, Reuters (Refinitiv), MS Office and front office systems (ideally Murex)

  • Established network in the financial industry and/or particularly trading community would be beneficial

  • Fluency in English required, additional languages are considered an asset

Duration:  Four-year fixed-term contract, with possibility of extension
